Study

Our apprenticeship programme is specifically for UK 16+ students who prefer a hands-on practical education.

Joining the technical apprentices programme at The University of Manchester allows you to acquire skills in your chosen discipline, leading on to a rewarding career as a specialist laboratory, mechanical or electrical support technician. At the end of the programme you will be awarded an industry recognised certification that you can take forward with you into your career.

Throughout your studies our senior laboratory staff and managers will provide you with all the support, equipment and training you need to make the most of your training. Key skills that are covered are operational health and safety, business administration, procurement and finance.

Apprenticeships are more than just programmes of study, they are jobs and as a student on one of our programmes you are entitled to the same benefits as our other members of staff. This includes:

  • A generous annual leave allowance
  • A defined benefits pension scheme
  • Subsidised car parking
  • Tax relief on childcare
